Our Story
Our Story - Mike & Kim Cannon, Founders
We moved to Neenah in 2001 with a young family and full-time jobs, and we instantly fell in love with this community. But we also know firsthand the exhausting, non-stop hustle of raising kids while constantly on the go.
In 2019, we served as summer camp counselors and heard stories from local kids about the struggles they were facing. Our biggest takeaway from that experience was simple but profound: it's all about the families they go home to. We quickly realized our own family wasn't much different. Like so many busy parents caught up in the status quo, we found it surprisingly rare to intentionally gather for fun, meaningful moments. Instead of connecting, our kids were often tucked away in their bedrooms scrolling social media or playing video games, while we were in front of the TV or catching up on work somewhere else in the house.
Now that our children are grown, we are on a mission to give back to our community-and hopefully help you skip a few of the parenting mistakes we made along the way! We created Kindred Crew to provide a welcoming, safe space where it's incredibly easy for your family to just relax, have fun, and truly connect. We want to help you ditch the digital distractions and give you practical, playful ideas to make the absolute most of the precious little time you have together.

Join us for a ridiculously fun and totally free Tree's Life Cycle workshop. Just like a mighty Neenah oak needs different tools to survive the changing Wisconsin weather, families need practical tools to navigate the different seasons of life together. In this 2-hour event, you will ditch distractions and reconnect through playful challenges.
Here is a sneak peek at our seasonal activities:
- Spring (New Beginnings): Create colorful sand art bottles filled with "energy beads" to take home, playfully reminding us to check our family's battery levels before we take on new committments.
- Summer (High Activity): Combat your packed schedule with a fast-paced game of "Spoons"- a great way to practice keeping our eyes on each other and intentionally choosing connection in the busyness.
- Fall (Transitions): Practice adaptability with our "Let It Go" balloon challenge. Watching an untied balloon fly uncontrollably around the room reminds us that things don't always go as expected, helping us learn how to pivot.
- Winter (Restoration): Play a hilarious round of "Ping Pong Palooza" to see how we handle emotions- sometimes we drop the ball, but we are always working to create a safe family huddle.
You will also leave with more at-home fun activity ideas for the month of May!
